Mr. Soble, formerly a reporter for the New York Times and Tokyo bureau chief for the Financial Times, has been reporting from Japan since 2002, initially with Dow Jones Newswires and Reuters. After joining the Financial Times in 2007, he won awards for his coverage of the Fukushima nuclear disaster and the Olympus accounting scandal.

From 2020-2022, he served as senior editorial advisor for GLOBIS Insights. He also acts as editorial and communications lead for the World Economic Forum.

Born in Canada, Mr. Soble studied at the University of Toronto and the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.
