Mr. Monck was an international television journalist and editor with CBS News, ITN, and Sky News in the late 1980s. In 2005, he was professor and head of journalism for City University in London. He became managing director and head of communications and media for the World Economic Forum in 2009. He currently serves as managing director and head of public engagement. He is also a visiting faculty member at the Instituto de Empresa in Madrid, external assessor at the University of Hong Kong, and a frequent television and newspaper commentator.

He was president of Britain's Media Society from 2005 to 2006, and has been chair and judge for various awards juries, including International Emmies, BAFTAs, RTS, and broadcast and British press awards. He is a member of BAFTA, the Royal Television Society, and the Media Society. He co-authored Crunch Time - How Everyday Life Is Killing the Future (2007) and Can You Trust the Media? (2008).

Mr. Monck has an MA from Exeter College at Oxford and an MBA from the London Business School.
