CBE Deputy Chairman, Tepco Nuclear Reform Monitoring Committee

Ms. Judge CBE is a corporate lawyer with both British and American citizenship. After receiving a BA from the University of Pennsylvania and a Juris Doctor with honours from the New York School of Law, she became a partner in a major US law firm. In 1980 she was appointed by the President as Commissioner of the US Securities & Exchange Commission. Subsequently, she was appointed the first woman director of News International and Samuel Montagu. In 2002, she joined the Board of the UK Atomic Energy Authority, elected as its Chairman from 2004 to 2010.

Thereafter, she was appointed Chairman of the Energy Institute of University College London and Chairman of the UK Pension Protection Fund. She is also Deputy Chairman of the Tepco Nuclear Reform Monitoring Committee and Chairman of its Nuclear Safety Task Force, as well as a member of the UAE Advisory Board for the development of Peaceful Nuclear Energy, among others. She is also a Visiting Fellow at Oxford University.

In 2010, she was awarded Commander of the British Empire in the Queen’s Birthday Honours for services to the nuclear and financial services industries.
