Mr. Ellis has spent seventeen years in the IT industry. Early in his career, he managed the data center and led bioinformatics integration for Ohio State University's Mass Spectrometry & Proteomics facility. Ending his time in academia, he cofounded the Ohio Collaborative Conference on Bioinformatics. He entered the commercial sector with CapGemini (Sogeti), EMC, and finally Dell, where he held positions across consulting, on-premise, and hybrid data center design. He was then appointed sales engineering director for the Silicon Valley region in northern California.

Today, Mr. Ellis leads the customer engineering team for Google Energy. The team partners with customers to identify and qualify both business and technical requirements while removing technical impediments for the successful deployment and implementation of cloud solutions.
