Ms. Chan is senior economics correspondent for Singapore broadsheet The Straits Times and is currently based in Tokyo. She analyzes regional and global economic news, mainly focusing on the impact of these external developments on Singapore's economy. In her eight years at The Straits Times, she has also extensively covered real estate and business news and co-authored a book about the policies and history of the Monetary Authority of Singapore, the Singapore central bank and financial regulator.

A graduate from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and Harvard University, she was formerly an investment banker at Bank of America Merrill Lynch.
